OSKD has been in operation in the Ottawa area for over 20 years. By training JKA Shōtōkan Karate-Dō in a safe and friendly atmosphere, students are encouraged to achieve personal development physically, mentally and spiritually. Our training follows the guidelines provided by the Japan Karate Association (JKA), its headquarters (Honbu Dōjō) located in Tokyo, Japan.
In Canada, OSKD is a member Dōjō of the JKA Shōtōkan Karate-Dō World Organization of Canada (JKA-SKD Canada) which is part of the international umbrella organization of the JKA World Federation (JKA-WF).
OSKD is under the technical direction of its founder, Chief Instructor Oscar Avellaneda Sensei. He is a certified JKA GoDan (5th degree black belt) who has been a pratitioner of JKA Shōtōkan Karate-Dō most of his lifetime.
